WHICH TESTS ARE USED TO DIAGNOSE HEMORRHOIDS?
Non-Surgical Testing
If you are experience symptoms of hemorrhoids, your doctor may order one of the following tests:
Anoscopy/Colonoscopy
This is a test performed by a gastroenterologist which uses a special camera to directly see the hemorrhoids in cases where they cannot be seen or felt or to investigate for other potential causes of the symptoms.
CT Angiogram
Type of CT scan which highlights the blood vessels. Contrast (dye) is injected through an IV during this exam. This will provide detailed anatomy about the blood vessels which supply the hemorrhoids. This test is usually not necessary, but the physician will determine that after a consultation.
