Plantar Fasciitis Diagnostic Testing
WHICH DIAGNOSITC TESTS ARE USED TO DIAGNOSE PLANTAR FASCIITIS?
If you experience heel pain, your doctor may order one of the following tests:
Patient Evaluation
The patient undergoes a thorough evaluation, including detailed medical history and physical examination.
Imaging Studies
X-Ray and Ultrasound are the most common imaging tests for plantar fasciitis but sometimes an MRI helps rule out other causes of heel pain.
Pain Management Assessment
Patients with chronic heel pain that have not responded to conservative treatments like stretching, icing, shoe and support changes, activity modification, medications, physical therapy, or other therapies (e.g., night splints, Shockwave therapy, corticosteroid injections, PRP injections) may be considered for PFE.
The decision to undergo PFE is based on a comprehensive evaluation by our providers, and the procedure can be a great option for many individuals with heel pain.
