Pelvic Congestion Syndrome

Pelvic Congestion Syndrome is a condition characterized by the abnormal pooling of venous blood around a woman’s uterus.  It’s a lot like having varicose veins in the legs only the abnormal blood flow occurs in veins within the pelvis, most commonly the ovarian veins where the blood flow is going the wrong direction, causing this blood to pool around the uterus.  Unfortunately,  it’s a condition that is very difficult to diagnose because many of the symptoms of Pelvic Congestion Syndrome are similar to other conditions.

Symptoms include:

  • Heavy periods
  • Pelvic Pain
  • Pelvic Bloating
  • Back Pain
  • Constipation
  • Urinary Frequency

If you are struggling with any of these symptoms and would like to schedule an appointment, call 413-693-2852. If we find that treatment is necessary, there is no need to panic — the procedure is very safe, there is no surgery involved, and therefore, the recovery is quite quick.
